Post-Op Instructions for Dental Veneers

Receiving new dental veneers is a great way to enhance your smile. To ensure the best outcome and longevity of your veneers, follow these simple post-operative care instructions from Smile Studio 87.

  • Initial Eating Precautions: Avoid eating until the anesthesia has completely worn off, typically about two hours, to prevent any accidental biting or injury.
  • Sensitivity Management: Expect some tooth sensitivity, particularly to cold, following your veneer placement. This sensitivity should diminish over the next few days. Avoid extremely hot or cold beverages to minimize discomfort.
  • Temporary Veneer Care: If you are fitted with temporary veneers, avoid sticky foods and be gentle when flossing to prevent them from becoming dislodged. Contact us immediately if a temporary veneer comes off.

  • Oral Hygiene: Resume normal brushing and flossing immediately after your appointment to keep your mouth clean. Use a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid damaging the veneers.
  • Avoid Hard Foods: For the first 24 hours after veneer placement, avoid hard foods that could crack or chip the veneers.
  • Post-Placement Adjustment: It may take a few days to adjust to the feel of your new veneers. If your bite feels uneven or if the veneers cause discomfort, please contact us for an adjustment.
  • Follow-Up Appointments: Attend follow-up appointments as recommended to ensure your veneers are properly seated and your bite is correct. Regular check-ups help maintain the health and aesthetics of your veneers.
